DATA STORAGE AND BACKUP
Our civilisation has produced more information over the past thirty years than it has in the 5000 years before that. For companies, this observation alone shows the growing importance of the problems caused in storing and backing up their computer data.
The computer data constitutes the company's memory and, first and foremost, having a reliable, efficient backup system is essential.
In terms of storage, conventional architecture consists of linking the storage units independently, in redundant fashion (RAID), directly to each of the company's servers. This conventional configuration has met the requirements of most business for several decades now and will certainly continue to do so for the majority of them.
Nevertheless, when the volume of data increases considerably, it can prove necessary to structure their archives within SAN (Storage Area Network) or NAS (Network Attached Storage) type centralised systems as much for operating reasons (performance, security, accessibility, capacity for development) as for cost reasons (utilisation, rationalisation).
At SYSELCOM, we consider these three solutions as all being perfectly viable and only an in-depth analysis of short and medium-term needs enables us to point our clients towards one or the other structure. In all cases, our aim is to offer you the most suitable and competitive solution in terms of purchase and operating costs.
On the other hand, SYSELCOM does not consider the alternatives for storing and archiving data without taking into account the problems of recovering and restoring them in the event of a major or minor disaster occurring.
